» Acne

By China at 9:54 AM

A few days before we left for winter break my roommates and I were talking about how expensive some acne treatment has gotten. When we went shopping the week before we got face wash and it was like 6 or 7 dollars for a tiny thing of regular acne face wash and we got into a whole talk about what kind is best and how it depends on who is using it and what kind of skin they have.

Thankfully I have never really had to deal with acne (my roommates hate me for that because they all take prescription medicine to keep theirs under control and from coming out). But honestly I have had pretty good skin my whole life. I'm not sure if it's genetic or not, but other than a few pimples now and then (like maybe once a year that you can barely see and go away within a day or so) I have never had a problem. I try to wash my face before I go to bed, but to be completely honest it probably happens like once a week where I actually take the time out to wash it and put on moisturizer. The other days, especially when I go out, I just fall asleep with makeup on and then shower in the morning before class, which my roommate thinks is horrible and always yells at me about, but I haven't really had a problem with it yet so it seems fine to me. I like to read the articles though in magazines about keeping your skin nice and trying new products but I feel like since I have never really had a problem with my skin I don't want to spend a ton of money on different products trying to make it better. It just seems silly to me. But I did just spend 7 dollars to get this grapefruit smelling face wash which really won't make any difference on my face than regular bar soap, I just like the smell.

I thought it was in junior high and high school that most people had to deal with acne and use an acne treatment but I have seen and hear so many people in college talking about what a problem it has been for them after they turned like 20 ish. That surprised me a lot, I always thought that the older you got the better your skin was, or at least less oily and you knew how to take care of it better. I guess it really does just depend on the person.
