» Wood Flooring

By China at 8:32 AM

When we moved into our house this year at school there was a no pet's allowed rule. I can see now that the reason for the rule is because of the carpeting upstairs being new and the solid wood flooring the was just put in all of the rooms on the first floor. Although it is really nice and everyone comments on the wood flooring, it still broke my heart when he told us that we couldn't get a dog.

I have never understood why people get so uptight about their floors. Aren't floors made to be walked on? At home, even though our house is really nice, we never have to take our shoes off and we have a puppy. I guess I just never understood why people want their house to look like no one lives in it. Even though we walk around our house in our shoes, we wipe them off before we come in, and the dog really doesn't have any negative effect on the wood flooring or the carpets. Our house and floors are still very nice despite these things.

One thing though that I miss from home being away from school is the heated floors. I remember when we bought the house in the subdivision we had to decide what things we wanted and underfloor heating for wood flooring and tile was an option. I also remember thinking it probably wasn't really a big deal and didn't understand why my parents wanted it so bad. But once you have it, it really is hard to go back. When I was sick I would lie on the floor because it felt so good (which is weird, I know). But it makes a big difference when it gets cold outside. At my house at school I dread getting up in the morning because our house and floors are so cold, let alone getting in the shower and getting wet. But at home it is so warm once you stand up that you don't even think about winter (until you actually have to go outside),

I think when picking out aspects of your house and just living your life daily, you need to realize what is important to your family and whets not. While some people think that wearing your shoes in the house is like a sin, we treat it more as being able to be comfortable and we can still do that and have a nice house.
